For those that haven’t heard, this morning we debuted our new hosted N-central Express software to Microsoft partners at no cost and with no obligation for one year.  The news comes just weeks after we announced plans to integrate Microsoft System Center Essentials and N-central and provide more direct support to Microsoft partners.

There’s no doubt that N-central Express will certainly pique the interest of the channel, and of course our competitors. It’s truly a first for N-able and serves as a trigger for the proliferation of a number of industry trends (which MSPMentor talked up this morning) including the intro of no cost starter programs for managed services, the widespread convergence of SaaS & managed services, as well as the expansion of collaborative, targeted partner marketing.

What’s great about N-central Express is that Microsoft partners who may have been uncertain about managed services can now easily test the waters and realize the positive and profitable impact managed services can have on their business, as well as their clients’ – without any investment in people or software.

For those who want to learn more, we’ve teamed up with Microsoft and N-able Partner David D’Arcy of Precision IT Group to host an informative webinar tomorrow, April 15 at 2 p.m. ETDuring this one-hour event, we will discuss IT automation, managed services and the tools necessary to build a successful services practice. So I had to buy 30k worth of software from you all and the 2 months later you are giving it away for free? That is certainly NOT FAIR!

Hi Gabriel, Appreciate your comment and I'd like to assure you that the N-central Express offering we announced for Microsoft partners is simply an evaluation (free-trial) software with limited capacity that is designed to casually introduce channel partners to the basics of the technology – much like the preloaded software that you may get on your PC that you can activate temporarily and then purchase. That said, I’d also like to point out that as a subscription-based offer N-central Express is limited to just 10 devices – again, allowing service providers to test run the basic functionality, but not offering the full performance and remote monitoring and management capacity found within N-central OnDemand and N-central OnPremise. Also, as a trial offering, N-central Express is not supported by N-able’s partner development team, solutions architects or technical support staff, nor does it have the customized reporting functionality (i.e. N-compass), patch management or integration capabilities to run with PSA tools or other CRM products. It’s truly a trial software that we’ve introduced to make it easier for solution providers and aspiring MSPs to evaluate the real value of automating their IT and delivering managed services. I hope this helps to alleviate your concerns and paints a clearer picture of what we’ve announced. If not, please let me know. -Bryan O’Connor

I am all for it. True Managed services need a way for decision makers put it in their awareness zone. Without the IT company making a full transition to Managed Services it both raises the awareness of outside SLA support and how crappy a partial implementation can be. So, better all around for me. M$ pimps a disfunctional product with poorly trained techs but as I full blown Nable convert we can come in and take over in a big way. Thanks.
